“Let us take a moment in Prayer and Meditation.”   I have often heard at spiritual gatherings these words used.  It could be viewed that both words are used simply as an inclusive communication style to lead both traditional religious and Humanitarian based believers together in contemplation.

I think today many people of western culture are having amazing experience with meditation and that it is beginning to be better understood.  Prayer however has always been left to the Religions to define and sometimes enforce.  In some commercialized religions saying a “prayer” has become synonyms to saying “Give Me”.

There is one definition of the word Prayer I am beginning to appreciate and believe has more in common with meditation and other esoteric practices than I realize.

Prayer /prer/: “The act of self-analysis or self-appraisal.

For me, this definition is an expression of a Soul Desire for the reception of a Balanced understanding in what I have discerned in my life, to be unstable or dissatisfying.  Esoteric  spiritual seekers know this process as "Shadow Work".

hile prayer, is a powerfully emotional practice. For some it is even a sacrifice of honest self critique to that which is unknowable, expecting only understanding, acceptance, and love.  In turn, prayer provides hope and inspiration.

How much can be achieved by combining the emotional, honest, open expression of a Prayer at the depths of Meditative focus, to bring clarity and insights of Spiritual Self.

Perhaps the words prayer and meditation were selected for their common Intentions and to exemplify their complimentary, synergetic relationship.

Please… Let us take a moment in Prayer and Meditation!
